The sobs, the I'm sorry, the I will be a better wife come suddenly and usually when I feel inadequate... Usually when I didn't make a 4 star home cooked meal. OR when I didn't put the laundry that is sitting on the couch away. I am not my mother is what echos over and over in my head. I don't have an amazing meal on the table every night, I don't clean the house 2 times a week, and I am not home with my husband every night...
SOB SOB SOB SOB
I come home from work at the hospital stressed and immediately have to go to sleep cause I work the next night. I forget to put the meat in the crock pot or I do and it turns out horribly. I look at my amazing mother and how she seems to have everything together and be the perfect wife and...
SOB SOB SOB
But then my husband takes me in his arms and hugs me. He looks me straight in the eyes and says you are perfect. You love me more than anything. You work a full time job and you keep the house in order. You take care of our fur babies and you love more than anyone I know...
SOB SOB SOB
Ladies I don't tell you this to make you feel sorry or to get a glimpse into my hectic life. I tell you because how many of us have done the same thing to some extent. How many of us have walked into someone's home and immediately thought wow this home is spotless, no dust, no carpet stains, and oh my goodness homemade blackberry cobbler (my sister-in-law's specialty). You start saying to yourself my house looks like a mess, I never have time to make homemade dessert, and I can never ever dust enough for it to look dust free.
STOP, REWIND, and THINK
We are all made different. Some of us are homemakers. Some of us are business women. Some of us are both. BUT no matter what we are we are HUMAN. We only have so many hours in the day and more important than how our house looks or if the laundry is done is that we love and show our husbands that they mean the world to us. We get so caught up in have to clean, have to cook, have to make everything perfect that there are days that I come home and immediately start cleaning...WHAT?
STOP, Look at your husband and kiss him. We as women can multitask and have so many things on our mind all at once. Ladies our husbands love us for who we are. More important than cooking and cleaning is spending time with them. Do I want my house to look like a pig stye all the time? NO but we have to constantly remind ourselves that life is a delicate balance. Some days my couch has cloths all over it because I choose to take a walk with my husband and THAT IS OK.
Ladies we have to quit beating ourselves up for not being perfect at everything. We have to quit letting the devil put us down and tell us we aren't good enough. We have to stop and look at the Bible...Look at the Proverbs 31 woman. She is not only a homemaker, a business woman, but most importantly she is a Christian. The virtues that we portray are way more important than the tasks that we do, than how our house looks, and yes even more important than if our food is take out or homemade. The virtues you possess and share with the world and the lives that you change by living in the world but not of the world is what truly matters in life.
So next time you walk into your house and think what a mess...STOP, LOOK, and REMEMBER that you are a precious child of God. That you are special and that the virtues you display and the life that you live is going to determine your Eternal Home... Don't let the cares of this world over cast our ultimate goal.
Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Proverbs 31: 30
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
